🦊 Euro Truck Simulator 2 Retarder How To Use
I am playing with Xbox One controller and I set these two buttons (3 stripes and 2 rectangles) under Xbox button as keys to retarder. Unfortunately, when playing using "real automatic transmission" when using retarder my gear turns to neutral and I have to select gear up every time. Does anyone know what causes that and how to fix it? When using simple automatic transmission it doesn't happen.
HCT combinations are only available through trailer ownership. I don't believe SCS will put them in the freight market because they don't want users complaining too much on how difficult it may be to drive with them. I dont really have a problem with driving a HCT. i actually quite like it. #15.
A retarder is braking mechanism that uses fluid to evenly distribute braking ability to all wheels on the primary mover/unit/tractor. Only to the driven wheels. Think of the retarder as a load on the back of the transmission, similar in concept to an exercise bike or rowing machine.
The exhaust brake and the retarder are secondary engine brakes. The exhaust brake is generally activated during braking or manually by a separate control (generally a button on the floor). The retarder is a more powerful version that holds the engine back when desired speed is exceeded (on hills and the like). Retarders work against the engines
BTW, the automatic setting doesn't preclude manual use of the retarder. You can still turn it on/off on long grades. I'm not living the truck experience either; I find the sequential gearbox makes it too difficult to skip gears while making it way too easy to get lost in them. Automatic is easier to drive with a controller.
1 – Turn on the cruise controls in the game. An icon will be displayed on the dashboard of your truck: 2 – Now increase your speed and use the keys. By default, the speed will increase to 5 km/h. 3 – Now you have the ability to set the speed that you require: 4 – The speed reduction is controlled by the keys and can also be reduced by 5
If you lift your gas pedal, you "use" engine break. I dont drive a semi truck irl so i dont know if you would use the retarder and maintain your throttle/pedal position while going downhill. I my car, I just down shift to a lower gear and dont use my gas pedal to maintain speed downhill. I never use my break pedal unless i have to slow down.
Euro Truck Simulator 2. Braking during cruise controll. hey truckers. So before this update. i was able to brake by just simply decrease the set-speed on my cruise controll. truck automatically breaked down evenly to my new speed. This dosnt happen now. it dosnt brake at all.
I've read a bunch of threads in the subject, but I'm still not quite clear on the precise usage and since there's no transmission/engine damage model in ETS2 I'd like to learn about usage on those guys properly. So please, correct me if I'm wrong in my assumptions: - If I'm going fast, low revs, and I need to slow down a tad it's better to use the retarder, because its effectiveness is based
Uncheck the option to use the retarder automatically, and make sure you decrease it till you turn it off. By default, semicolon (;) turns retarder on, single quote (') turns retarder off. You can reassign the keyboard keys in Options->Keyboard. By default, semicolon (;) turns retarder on, single quote (') turns retarder off.

So I've never driven a "real" European truck, but I cant imagine that they would be so different from American trucks that their retarder control would be located where the trailer brake is located. Every truck I have ever driven has a trailer brake (which is still part of the air brake system) located on the steering column to the right (in the exact location that the retarder control is
